Short Bio:

    陳登吉博士於1988 年獲得美國德州大學(University of Texas, Arlington)電腦科學工程系博士學位。陳博士的學士、碩士以及博士主修都是電腦科學，於1988 年回國後歷經成功大學電機系副教授、交通大學資訊工程系副教授以及交通大學資訊工程系教授。其間曾歷經美國University of Alabama, Huntsville, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department 的Visiting Professor 以及荷蘭 Computer Science Institute, University of Nijmegen 的Visiting Scholar.

    陳博士主要研究領域包括軟體工程技術 (物件導向軟體技術,軟體再利用技術, 軟體衡量及品保),網路教學平台系統 (互動教學系統, 測驗評量系統, 多媒體教材編輯及即時講解系統), 無線行動教學及電子書包教學平台系統, 多媒體編輯系統 (Multimedia Authoring Systems), 電腦系統評估以及可靠度分析 (電腦網路系統,分散式系統, 即時性系統, 連接網路系統)。到目前為止(2004)，己發表了國際性論文超過130 多篇。陳教授亦是SWARD 電腦（由名電腦學家Glen Meyer 博士在IBM 設計的） 的主要的解剖者之一，陳教授曾受邀國際性學術演講及活動，包括：美國、台灣、日本、香港、荷蘭、英國、西班牙、義大利、德國、瑞士、加拿大、韓國等10 多國家。

    在1990 年到1993 年期間曾協助國內德聿佳科技公司發展防盜器以及中控鎖之硬體控制器，並成功開發系列產品且銷售世界各地，之後又協助其赴大陸設廠生產一系列之產品，此公司已在中國大陸長春設廠,每年生產上萬套的控制系統。

    陳教授在軟體方面的研究更有多項軟體技術已成功地研製成商品化的教學工具，並廣泛地給國中、小學老師、學生以及家長們用於協助學生的學習以及老師的教學，並自1995 年協助其學生創立智勝國際科技。已開發完成的軟體產品及系統達10 多項。其中智勝-編輯手並得到2004 年數位學習創新獎。詳細網址：http://www.caidiy.com。全民網路英檢系統，此系統已實際應用到全民網路英檢。並安裝於全民網路英檢17 個測驗中心，可同時好幾千人線上檢測。詳細網址：http://www.test.org.tw。

    陳博士一直和界業保持相當的互動關係。他曾顧問的公司及機構包括：美國 Motorola 公司、思源科技股份有限公司、盛群科技股份有限公司、德聿佳科技股份有限公司、智勝國際科技股份有限公司以及台灣電子檢驗中心、工研院電通所等。此外，陳教授亦是國內在軟體工程學術領域中少數成功將所學實際研製成產品並協助學生創業的老師。他擔任學術界及業界在軟體工程及分散式系統相關領域的多項國際專刊審察委員、國際會議議程委員、考試院命題及口試委員等。

    Deng-Jyi Chen received the B.S. degree in Computer Science from Missouri State University (cape Girardeau), U.S.A., and M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas (Arlington), U.S.A. in 1983, 1985, and 1988, respectively.

    He is now a professor at Computer Science and Information Engineering Department of National Chiao Tung University (Hsinchu, Taiwan). Prior to joining the faculty of National Chiao Tung University, he was with National Cheng Kung University (Tainan, Taiwan). So far, he has been publishing 130+ referred (journal 50+ conference 70+) papers in the area of performance and reliability modeling and evaluation of distributed systems, computer networks, fault-tolerant system, software reuse, object-oriented systems, and multimedia application systems.

    Dr. Chen has been invited as a lecture speaker or presented papers in several conferences in many countries, including U.S.A., Canada, United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Italy.

    Some of his research results have been technology transferred to industrial sectors and used in product design and implementation. So far, he has been a chief project leader of several commercial products. Some of these products are widely used in many schools for e-learning tools.

    He also receives the research award yearly from National Science Council Taiwan for the past eight years and serves as a committee member in several academic and industrial organizations.
